Diagnosing Worn Out CV Components
1. Torn Boot
Check for grease deposits under the vehicle in the vicinity of the CV Joint.
Remedy – if no noise, suggest check all boots. If boots split or cracked-remove boots, clean all joints thoroughly, regrease them and replace with new boot kits.
2. Clicking or Humming
Verify by driving on a smooth surface testing for noise while turning in either direction. Remedy- replace outer CV Joint or complete CV Shaft.
3. Vibration
Verify by driving on a smooth surface straight ahead putting load on vehicle. If you detect a vibration or shudder, replace inner CV Joint or complete CV Shaft.
