CV joints that include a grease point are highly sought after amongst maintenance teams, especially when the vehicles are operating in environments heavy with contaminants such as dust, dirt, mud and so on.
The grease points allow for regular servicing of the cv joint, as the fitters/mechanics can manually pump grease into the component. This has two purposes. Not only does this ensure that the component remains adequately lubricated, but it also forces out the old grease – which can often collect contaminants overtime and if left inside the component could cause damage.
